Buddy, attach a picture of the front of the monitor with the door open.
Be sure I can see where the picture adjustment potentiometers are. Either on top or bottom of the tube.

Gentlemen,

Thanks.

Here's s description of the video - picture the screen modulated with a 30Hz sine wave moving from top to bottom; then repeat, repeat, repeat ...

I'll get a picture of the monitor this afternoon.

Where can I get a capacitor kit?

Buddy

We  are trying to determine what monitor you have. Once we know that we can refer you.
I sell Ceronix 1490/1492 kits. If its Wells Gardner you can go to therealBobroberts.net, arcadepartsandmore.com, or Im sure someone sells one on ebay.

I believe that is a Wells Gardner 13”. You will need to lift the entire monitor out of the machine. It will have a label on the side of the frame or on the back of the monitor. I think there is a critical cap kit for those, meaning you might not have to replace all of the capacitors, only the ones that work hard and fail.

Chris,

I've attached a few pictures we could get through the "shields".

Oh wow, a Nanao 13” CRT monitor. I have never seen one. I don’t think you can get a capacitor kit for it buy you can search around. I can’t see the model number on the label.
Any of us who works on monitors don’t really use capacitor kits most of the time, we have bins of the most common caps.
Personally I would probe the capacitors with my in-circuit tester and look for any that are out of spec.

Unfortunately that is not a very common monitor. If you ever go to K-Lar, you will see mountains of Ceronix, WG, RGB, Hitachi, Kortek….from there it starts getting real thin on others.

I see Bob Roberts stocks cap kits for the larger Nanao boards, it is extremely possible the boards are virtually the same. You would need to get a picture of the board itself. You need to remove the board from the frame anyway. http://www.therealbobroberts.net/caps.html

Be sure to properly discharge the anode cup before pulling it. I seem to recall you sent a Ceronix board to me, those typically self-discharge. Most from the early 80’s do not!

Chris,

Thanks.

George found a cap kit at Arcade Parts & Repair ($22 plus shipping).  We'll probably give it a try.

As always, appreciate your time.
