Every AVP machine I get doesn't usually have a printer, and always seems to have an two row 8 pin NetPlex printer cable in it just dangling there, often with no printer mount or sled. Drives me nuts.
After too many hassles with Netplex printers. Now I only use Ithica Epic 950 printers that have both Netplex and USB connections, with a separate connector just for power as in the photo. Some versions of the 950’s don’t have USB. The only ones I get have the USB port on the bottom like the photo. Because regardless of the firmware they have currently, I can easily flash them with USB IUU firmware for AVP’s.
But the 950 is much easier with a USB connection, just needs 24v power to the 4 pin molex mini-fit jr connector, connect USB to the backplane. Done, and it works every time. Pic of the only connections needed is attached, 4 pin molex is power, and the USB. Also, to run Fam20 on a G20-G23 machine, the BV and Printer both need to be USB to work with it. So I have like six of them on hand already flashed for IGT when I need one.
The hassle is usually tapping power from the NetPlex connector in the machine. So I end up having to make my own cable to tap 24v power from it to the correct power pins on the 4 pin molex power plug for Epic 950 printer. Would be nice if there was already a 4 pin 24v molex power connector like that in the machine in addition to the NetPlex connector already.
These connectors work fine for the power to the 950 printer:

I found this cable at the link below at a few places, as well as at spin.inc, just not great pics or descriptions of them anywhere that I think would solve my issue so it would be just plug in and done.
Harness, Epic 950 Netplex USB Adaptor for IGT
https://www.spininc.com/harness-epic-950-netplex-usb-adaptor-igt-95-05491lThe common printer cable I find just dangling there in AVP's is a two row 8 pin molex for NetPlex. And it appears the cable at the link above will connect to it, and has a few other (optional) power plugs, including the 4 pin molex for power to the Epic 950. After all, it is listed a harness for IGT to an Epic 950, so it would have to have a power plug that fits the Epic 950.
The USB cable is a simple USB printer cable. But it’s there as well, just wrapped in the cable bundle.
Wondering if anyone has a similar cable for an Epic 950 they use in their AVP. Or if anyone can confirm this cable, which has a dual row 8 pin molex NetPlex connector that matches what’s dangling in AVP's where the printer and mount have been removed.
I'm thinking the NetPlex connector on this cable listed at spin.inc only gets power from the 8 pin NetPlex connector, and is just wired to supply 24v power from it to the 4 pin molex power plug on the Epic 950. The fact that a USB cable is wrapped in it is just a plus since any USB printer cable does the job.
If that’s how it handles power, this cable would save me a lot of time and hassle of making custom power cables. Is anyone more familiar with this cable who can comment?
Or maybe someone has like 5 of these cables like the one in the spin.inc link above in a bin somewhere they would be interested in selling?
TIA!
