Also don't forget that you MUST use a Win7 machine (or even XP) to do this!

If you use Windows 8 or later and use this .bat file to remove extra files that get automatically put on a flash drive just when it's plugged in, the OS will just mess it up again once those hidden folders/files have been cleared.  :)

Win7 and earlier will not do this so once "fixed" and those extra folders/files are removed by the .bat file being ran with the diag key plugged into the Win7 or XP machine.  It should authenticate again.

you can run the batch file on Win 10, then eject the stick. if you reinsert, it will write to it again. My windows 8 doesn't write those system files, but I've heard others do. not sure why the difference.

Thanks,
Wayne

Thank you everyone. The diag key is fixed but after memory wipe and re-boot it get call attendant in red letters and turning the key does nothing.

I believe you have to open the door first, then turn the attendant key - to see the next message?

Ah you beat me to the reply again!  ha

Usually it doesn't only say Call Attendant, is there any other data shown on the screen?  If not, does it display more when you open the main door and turn the key?  If you only cleared NVRAM and SafeStorage and not the drive with the diag, I'd say whatever is on your drive is mucked.  Or the two CR2450 batteries in your PCI card are old and have low voltage output so they can't maintain the NVRAM / SafeStorage data.  Do you know when those batteries were last replaced?  If you don't, I'd replace them so you know they are fresh.

Assuming you have your Game Loader files on one flash drive, and the OS loader on a separate flash drive all by itself, and the OS version is 014BOE which I think is the latest (or close to it).  But it's the most commonly used OS version on AVP 3.0 machines.  I would wipe everything, including the drive.  Load the OS clean by booting the machine with only the OS loader flash drive and the ekey plugged in after clearing everything and powering off.  Then power on.  Machine will boot and load the OS. After the OS says it's loaded, then shutdown and remove all keys and power on again.   Should boot with no errors and take you to the Configuration Required screen.   Plug in the ekey when prompted and complete basic machine setup until you reach a "No Games Enabled" screen.

Then just plug in your ekey.  And load games from the ekey menu in Setup>Game>Manage Packages to install them with the flash drive with your games on it plugged in.  And once at least one game is installed (best to just do one so you can see all works without loading a bunch of games and waiting for them to load, only to find you still get an error), and go to Setup>Game>enable/disable to set the paytables and enable your game.  Then just make sure all doors are closed and none of the icons in the upper right of the main screen have a white background indicating they are still seen as open.

in a nutshell, that's a clean load from scratch to running normally, even if you had just plugged a new blank SSD into the machine.  So if there "was" bad software loaded, that would clear it.  If something red screens or you get any kind of error during that process, the red screen should at least have an error message that helps identify what isn't right.   You can also check battery voltages if you boot with the diag, there's a page that will show OK for the batteries if they are supplying enough voltage.  If any don't have a checkbox by them and OK is next to all of them.  You'll want to replace them.  Which is fairly easy.  Two CR2450's for the PCI card are about $5 from Amazon.  The motherboard bios battery is just a single CR2032 like almost any other motherboard and are cheap and easy to find almost anywhere since they're much more common than the CR2450 batteries.

If I lived in a much larger city like LA.  I would seriously have a "Mobile IGT AVP/WMS Bluebird slot repair" business as a side hustle.   lol

Anyone can fix their own machine.   But not everyone has the necessary keys, batteries, or other basic parts on hand if needed, or they just don't want to do it themselves.  They just want it fixed so they can play it again.  And I've done it so many times it would be fairly easy.

Makes me think of someone saying in an Italian accent

"I ah fixa your AVP eh?  You call, make appointment, fast service!"

Don't know why an Italian accent.  Just think it would sound catchy.   :Tongue_Out:
