GameKing LCD Screen Not Lighting Up
« on: March 31, 2026, 05:50:40 pm »
Greetings, haven't been on in a while. My LCD screen (I think, flat screen) on my Gameking has stopped lighting up. I can't really say it isn't working, because the touch screen part still works, I can play it via buttons or touch screen, but you just can't see anything. When it first started acting up it would work for maybe 10 minutes then cut out the same, now does it from start up. Any ideas? Sorry if it's been covered before, but the quick search I did I couldn't find the exact problem I'm having. Thanks in advance. Bobby.

Sounds like you need an inverter.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Turn room light OFF Bobby, and shine a flashlight into the LCD at various angles, to check if you can see any text or graphics.

Also, what size is your screen... measured diagonally?
And is there any labels pasted to the back of the monitor telling you which make & model it is?

Ironically, when I turned it on this morning it ran fine for about 20 min until screen went black again. When it first started having problems that is what would happen, then eventually wouldn't turn on at all. This first became a problem last summer and was supposed to be a winter project lol.

Once it shut off, I could not see anything shining light on it with the room lights off. Screen measures 20.5 inches diagonally, outside to outside of entire screen, with the viewable portion of the screen measuring 19 inches diagonally.

On the side of the monitor assembly is a label that says:

Tovis
Model LTG-1932UR

and another sticker below that saying "Samsung SPVA"

I can remove the guard and access the back of the screen itself if needed.

Perfect...that way you can get the exact #'s off of the boards inside it.
The inverter may be connected to a couple of pink and blue wires at each end.
Sometimes they're Pink and white...you'll see when you get in there.
Take some pics...reduce size to 1000kb to fit here.

This ballast/inverter board for the LCD backlighting tubes...I'd say has to be about 20 years old!
You'd might give it some life if you change that green capacitor but it's just like old as dirt. lol
Is there a manufacturing date on any of these boards?  :sherlock:
I'm missing it somewhere...lol

I'd put up a WTB ad in the NLG Classifieds for one...or you can buy this one?...>>>
https://get-t.net/product/inverter-gh184aa6-at-0170ss-gh059a-igt-17-19-ur-st-gett-part-invt110/

There's no guarantee the inverter will work because it's very possible the backlight tubes are dying too.
So...it's like you have to throw money at this to see what sticks.

Or try to get yourself another monitor?

Part arrived today. Solved the problem. Many thanks. Will make a donation.

On a side note, now that you mention it I noticed the top of the screen is noticeably darker than the bottom. How involved/pricy is it to replace the tubes? Not too bad, still playable, but guessing it won't be too long.

Somewhere, someplace... there's a list of parts that are in that thing...  :sherlock:
Need to get CCFL backlighting tubes.
Grab your measuring tape, and measure diagonally from corner to corner - in inches.

oh...Tovis
Model LTG-1932UR

That is considered to be a 19" screen as the first two numbers in the model number.

Well worked for a couple hours, now back to square one. Could be replacement part, could be tubes. Checked with a light, still can't see anything. A search showed some of these have an upgrade that can be done with strip lighting, is this one of them?

If you're NOT seeing any text or writing with a flashlight, then that's a pretty indicator that the AD card is shot too.
That LCD has just about had it...you don't want to put too much money into especially if you don't have parts to swap with it.
You can probably get one complete and working at the strip down houses like GET-T, slotrecycle, slotmachinesunlimited for a couple hundred bucks or so.
Bear in mind, places like that are selling you parts that came out of old machines, and LCD's are like light bulbs - they do NOT last forever.
