What does it take to replace a DBV-200 bill validator
« on: April 10, 2026, 05:30:55 pm »
the hitchhiker I picked up has a DBV-200 bill validator in it... it's not responding... I tried the BV on/off chip on it... enabled it... set the denomination (.25)...  but it's not doing anything...

what would be my best option?  replace it with a WBA-XX?  if I did that... what would I need to replace other than the main unit?  harness?  power supply?   cash box?  frame that it slides into?

Your DBV-200 most likely needs a the black power supply replaced. Common failure part. I offer service to repair the DBV-200 PS if interested.

Update:

last night I read this old thread (/nlg/index.php?topic=4226.25)

so I went and look a little more...

I pulled the power supply and looked at it...  it definitely looks old... but there are no obvious signs of failure... and there are no bulging capacitors or burnt spots...

when I put everything back together...  I wiggled it around to see if it was the tabs mentioned in the thread...

at some point it started making noise... and the lights to insert a bill came on...  I put in a $1 and it took it... added the 4 credits...

but then it went right back out and would not take any more...  I checked the cash box... the bill was still sticking out about 1/2"...  so I'm guessing there was a jam...

I cleared the jam... and it still didn't come back on...

I noticed that when I wiggle the wire connectors where it plugs into the validator it would sometimes come to life...

I did get it to take 1 more bill.... but basically same issue...

part of the problem could be that the tabs that let you screw in and secure it are missing... so all I can do is push it in...
but I don't see any type of switch that would indicate it was in or not... so I'm guessing the issue is around the wire connection area...
