I hate to see impact to any workforce but I was involved in Mergers and Acquisitions back in the 90s for a PetroChemical company.
We would swallow up a division of a company for their assets (plants and production) and layoff the IT, Legal, Accounting, HR and upper management - about 25% of the acquired work force.
We already had IT, and all of the other support services and adding another plant to the fold meant retaining like 2 people regionally for desktop support and that was about it. The other keepers were the plant workers, just not the corporate folk,
The Sales teams were merged as sometimes it was unique product lines and then it was like watching gladiators go at often territories and customers overlapped. Only the strong survived. It was corporate toxicity at its best.

When you look at the technology in a casino - you could reduce the massive real estate foot print to a pile of IPADS that can replicate every game in the house. The rest is just lights, bells and whistles.
The real business is locking down licensing deals like StarWars, and House of the Dragon.

I suspect however that the reduction is likely coming from the Blackstone side of the house - aka they are not moving a ton of people to the Las Vegas headquarters.

Sad to see this news. IGT has always been a benchmark in the industry. It seems like the massive shifts in global hardware supply chains and rising overhead are pushing even the biggest giants to restructuring. From a hardware integration perspective, things are getting tighter for everyone on the route.
