IGT Poker Monitor Connectors; What & where to buy

Hey all,
Regarding the Molex connector mounted on the Ceronix chassis in the IGT Fortunes, PE & PE+ machines.

The attached photo shows two different sizes with part #'s: 
 - Left side used in most F1, F2, PE, & early PE+ upright cabinets.
 - Right side used in later PE+ upright cabinets

 - What other styles & part #'s are used in the bar & slant tops?

They also show compatible pins, most are sold al-a-carte.

FYI, game vendors used many different types of connectors. They used 9 pin with .062 pins. They used the 15 pin shown with .093 pins. I have seen 12 pin with .062 pins. They used inline as well as the type with the female housing fixed(clipped) on the bottom of the chassis, both .062 and .093. PE uprights used 19 pin Amp connectors that slid together when the frame is pushed in. There is no standard, it had more to do with the game manufacturer than the monitor vendor.
Don’t forget RGB1401s are inverted color monitors and are actually more likely to need a replacement than a Ceronix monitor because they are virtually impossible to repair once they fail. They used a 6-wire .156 lock socket female connector that went directly to pins on the video board for video input. The power connector was a 2-pin of the same type. I don’t know if there is an inline option for those.

Converting to an LCD is a technical process, not plug-and-play.

I tried that one, but it didn't fit the PE+ system I have.   While it looks nearly the same in pics, dimensions are off.  Not saying there aren't PE+ systems that do use that one tho ..  Maybe there are systems using that one too.  I'm still a relative newbie to slots. I've only seen the two shown in previous pic so far....but haven't seen that many systems yet.

Seems crazy, they still sell the pins for it, just not the shell. WM2324CT-ND

How does one specify which connector style is needed, if buying a used harness from an old salvaged Ceronix chassis...       Old/new, small/large .......??

I misunderstood, I just looked up the one you listed. Are you sure you don’t just need the male version of that connector?

To answer your question, you identify if it has .093 or .062 pins.

.093 is capable of wrapping around an 18ga wire. .062 is used for smaller wires. All I can say is that once you see them side-by-side you will always be able to tell them apart.

Then you identify how many pins it has. You then look at the alignment notches on the plastic housing and match it up. Some have triangles built into the housing so they only go one way. Some will have one half-round pin box so they can only mage one way.

I will look a little closer at your picture but I really can’t tell scale to know of thats .093 or .062.

Those two housings you have pictured are not matched.
One has the triangle cut outs I mentioned. The other has cut corner (he he) on the end 3 pins.
I don’t see any way they can plug together.

The one on the right appears to be 15 pins, .093, female housing. So to find the mateyou need to browse through 15 pin housings and look for the one that has the cut-corner alignment style.

Yes, those connectors do not mate together. 

Here is a close-up of the one I need.  It came out of a Ceronix monitor chassis from a PE+ system.

I know what it is.  It' a Molex Part # 0015311151  Mini-Fit series 5025.  It's been discontinued & I'm trying to find a place to buy it.  Looking for someone who has an old stock of them, or possibly a substitute that will mate properly. 

I think the spec sheets call it a male plug with male pins. ( The female receptacle, is the mate, inside the PE+ cabinet )

Sorry if my descriptions are confusing.  (Describing things well is not my strong suit)

Are you sure about that? Where did you get that number?

I just had a flashback to a machine I worked on a few years ago. It was a Sigma. It had that connector on the face panel, the monitor had a long wire that came around and plugged into the front. Someone told me they had the connector but when I got it the size was wrong.
I tried to re-pin the connector but it was not any of the standard pin sizes so I had to drill it out for .093.  I never could find a match. I assumed it was a metric connector. Maybe it was just something in between.093 and .062. Who knows.

So, to answer question, your option is to use the existing connector and splice in a standard molex to use for your LCD or just convert to Molex and do away with that thing altogether.

I had ordered one of those connectors some years back to build an extender cable for testing monitor outside of cabinet.

I'm trying to find that connector so if Little Johnny orders a Lucky Kit for his newer PE+ machine, I will be able to send him the "Input Harness"

The input harness plugs into the Molex connector in HIS machine.

My other options would be to send him a harness removed from a Ceronix Monitor chassis (as shown in this pic), but as you said, not all monitors use the same connector.

I'm hoping not to send him just a pigtail that he has to wire up himself.

That is probably the least common connector Insee on them.

By chance, do you have any of those harnesses from old chassis for sale?

I would have to dig through tubs of parts. I don’t really know what I have, most of us just buy random assortments of parts or acquire them when we pick up dead monitors.
Honestly, if you go into this project trying to provide a plug-and-play process you could get drowned.
I really don’t recommend anyone do this unless they are handy and techy.

Is your plan to power the LCD with the 120VAC that is on the CRT wire loom? If so, where will you pick up ground? Have you done a power draw calc to ensure the isolation transformer that fed the CRT is sufficient for LCD monitors of that era?
Or will you terminate the isolated 120v pins at the connector? If so, where will you pick up power for the LCD?

I think you need to let the end user figure out how to adapt the existing system to your inverter. Just my opinion. Maybe include a piece of paper that gives a few suggestions to guide them. Maybe a block diagram. There are so many variables and options I don’t think you can really prepare for them all. Its not just PE machines either. Older Fortune machines used a computer type of amp connector, and they weren’t all wired the same.

Power would come from the Single 110VAC outlet inside the machines.  The kit will include a 3-tap adapter.

Look what I found. I actually found one connector in my stash and if you look on the back of the long tab it is labeled: MXO 5025-15
