
This is a long post but hopefully it will be an easy to follow read:
let me give you the back story...
Start with a Working IGT S+ Double Diamond Deluxe (DDD)
removed SP731 game chip to use BV on/off chip to enable bill validator
when removing SP731 game chip I bent a pin... when I straightened the pin it broke off... I soldered the leg back on...
Replaced repaired SP731 game chip
machine worked...
ordered a replacement SP731 game chip
replacement SP731 game chip arrived
replaced the repaired SP731 chip with the new SP731 chip
turned on machine:
Nothing
- no spinning reels
- no error codes
- only fluorescent tube lights on
- jackpot key and/or reset button did nothing
removed new SP731 chip re-installed the repaired SP731 chip
machine worked fine
verified via jackpot key that the repaired chip was a 731...
so I suspected bad replacement SP731 chip and requested another one...
new SP731 chip arrived today...
turned off working machine
removed repaired SP731 chip and inserted new SP731 chip
turned on machine...
Nothing again...
- no spinning reels
- no error codes
- only fluorescent tube lights on
- jackpot key and/or reset button did nothing
so I again re-inserted the repaired SP731 chip...
but this time
Nothing!!!
- no spinning reels
- no error codes
- only fluorescent tube lights on
- jackpot key and/or reset button did nothing
Now I can't get the machine to respond no matter what SP731 chip I put in it...
Here is where it gets interesting:
so... as a test...
I pulled the main board out of my working IGT S+ RWB machine
put the RWB main board in the DDD machine and
Nothing
- no spinning reels
- no error codes
- only fluorescent tube lights on
- jackpot key and/or reset button did nothing
put the DDD main board in the RWB machine and
it showed signs of life...
Error 61... which would be expected I think...
so the "Nothing" symptom/issue seems to be with the DDD machine and not the main board
so I don't understand how I can go from working machine.... change the SP chip... and then end up with an issue that does not seem to be on the main board...
any ideas?
I looked at the connector where the main board plugs in... I do not see any evidence of an issue... and not bent pins on either main board...
