BB2 hangs at configuring

New to me machine, never seen it work.

Used clear,  and known working CF cards.

Machine allowed all settings,  looked normal.

When booting up it hangs at please wait configuring,  with memory check at same time.

Thinking bad ram or hard drive?

I'm thinking not enough NVram on the memory stick, esp. if you're trying to load a game with a lot of graphics.
or CPU on Adastra board with old, hard, dried-out thermal paste is overheating and bogged down.
If the HDD was bad, most times you'd get a the yellow rectangular box with the Call Attendant message.
You flip the Attendant key and re-boot...doesn't always work though.
Cleaning gold contacts on RAM stick may help, swap one thing at a time and try to finish boot-up sequences to rule out problem.

It does have the yellow call attendant box as well.  Someone decided to remove the attendant key switch.  Will have to see if the connections are still there.

After swapping ram and untested HD, still getting yellow attendant light.

Will replace w/ new HD today,  but attendant screen makes me think maybe button issue?

All are lighting up green during loading.

I replaced the HD,  but the machine is getting more glitchy. Tried swapping ram sticks as well.

Now it is freezing after a clear, while I am putting in the settings.

I will re-apply some thermal paste. I guess a new adastra is next if that fails to help.

The blue screen indicates a Button panel issue.  Why are you ignoring that?  You said they were green on power up so it's an OLED.  You can use the WMS button panel software to test it out or try swapping it out

Am planning to try a new button usb cable as this one looks bent on the mpu end.

But have to have the machine boot up to test.

You can test the OLED deck with the WMS USB COMM TEST TOOL software.  All you need is power to it and a USB cable connected to a PC or laptop

That would be helpful.  I would definitely try,  but need a copy of that program.

I used the WMS  Comm tool to verify & reload the buttons to 3.2.

Still hanging and getting blue screen with what looks like a button tilt.

None of the buttons have an image while testing,  but the edge lighting was functional.

I bought a bb1 static button deck for this machine.  Was under the impression that it would be a direct fit.

The deck fits fine,  but the metal trim on the top is visible under the glass and player tracking panel.

Is there a good workaround?  Trim it off?
