MEI SC6602 Communication Problem

First post on here,

I just picked up a IGT 19 inch Game King machine that has a MEI SC6602 bill validator. The machine worked when I first picked it up but now is having a problem with the BV. When I turn the machine on, the BV cycles normally, first showing all lights, then blinking green once and turning solid green. The IGT does not seem to detect the BV, as when I run a netplex detection scan it says it cannot connect to it. I have tried a lot of things like checking connections, cleaning parts, etc, but still cannot get it working again. I cleared RAM as well.

I heard something about losing communication with the I/O board, but I havent been able to find much information on it and I am not totally sure what to look for.

If anyone has any info to help I would really appreciate it.

Hmm...when the green LED turns solid green, that means it sees the door closed.
That also means the machine recognizes that the MEI validator is in there.
At that point, it should be ready to accept a bill.
There's an interface card that connects between the head to the harness.
The gold plated contacts may be oxidized.

Turn OFF the power, pull out the cashbox, pull up on the locking bar for the head and remove the head.
Now pull towards you the interface card.
It should have some resistance then pop out.
Slide it out, clean the gold contacts on top with an eraser or contact cleaner.
Don't touch the contacts with your bare fingers.
Your fingers will leave oil on it.
When clean, slide the interface card back in, re-insert in the validator head and cashbox.
Turn ON the machine...let it boot-up and the blinking green LED on the MEI should go solid green after closing the door.
At that point, try inserting a $20 dollar bill and let us know if the head pulls the bill in or not.
