Thanks, I have a donor, complete wiring harness, coming in, so the plugs are not a problem. I need to research the pins, I know that I found them before, and they worked great.

Time to start going over my library of information, see what I written down.

for the door plugs?

the plugs used elsewhere in the machines are usually molex, and those use the round pins which are still available.

there's pins that look similar to the ones in the door connector that are intended to mate to a header pin.   The pin compresses a bit to maintain tension against the side of the header pin.  If you don't overload the connection, it works fine. 

on the pinballs, they occasionally ran too much current thru the pins - typically for the general illumination lamps that were always on - and you got the same effect as the slots ... as the connection deteriorated heat gets generated and you get burns and melting of the connector shell.

replacing the connector with another one of the same style is perpetuating the problem, but for home use it won't likely reappear until someone else has to deal with it, and they'd probably do the cheapest thing - remove the connector entirely and splice the wires together.  How often does the door need to be removed so the plugs have a use :-)

I bet it does. My Bally 1114 has bell. It only rings on the 777 and three bars jackpots.

since the machine was made for a specific casino, they may have used a different bell for their preferred sound.

whether it left the factory that way, the mint casino added it or someone else added it there's no way to know. 

even if ya had the specific schematic for that machine (or any similar era machine for the mint casino), the most it would probably say is whether there was a bell or the bell wires were provided "circuit only".  It's not unreasonable to guess that "circuit only" meant the customer planned to hook something up there besides the standard edwards 55 bell that bally provided.

another hint is look at what the bell is and how well it was installed.  If the bell was made in the 1970's, there are no obvious hacks and all the screw holes from the bell base are used, it's more likely the bell was added when the machine went into service.

Thanks, again it's a bell that probably doesn't belong in the machine after reading your comments and I have correct factory bell in my Bally stockpile.
The other Mint hotel and casino slot machines that I own are Edwards.

I haven't stripped down the handle assembly, obviously it is a FUBAR of some kind. I have had them goofed up before, and after restoration they are back to normal. I am getting pretty good at spotting FUBARS in the Bally machines now a days.

This is exactly why I disassemble everything and check the wiring. Two wires were not attached to their posts. Other problems are cut wires, botched wiring, etc.

Started to clean up the inner steel shell, and some minor damage. The wooden cabinet was separating on one corner, that is glued. ,the one photo showed how grungy it was, a lot of oil and dried grease.

As everyone knows, I have a few Bally EM, so remembering parts are pretty much easy peasy, I hardly ever pull my books out nowadays. Except today, that damn spring had me scratching my head.

The wiring needs attention, the goop is thick, some cut wires need to be replaced.
The upper unit is complete, which is awesome, the bad thing is some idiot sprayed it black. 
I have a complete wiring harness coming in, it will be used as a donor, it has everything I need. 
The glass has been sourced, not bad for 1968.
