044 OPEN B
« on: June 09, 2026, 10:39:34 am »
I am working on a 044 Game King and have it set up for the first time and for whatever reason I get an 'OPEN B' message on the bottom center of the screen.  I have bypassed the microswitch for the cash can door and the machine is set up for TITO so there is no bv installed.

Any idea why I am getting that on the screen?

Hello.  It does have a belly glass door.  When I open it the screen will read 'Open MB'.

I have both the door cherry switches pulled out.  Just pushed them in as if I opened the main door and the screen reads 'Open MB' also.  :Scratch-Head:  I still get 'CLOSURE M' as well as it doesn't change with the cherry switches for the door.

I'll post a picture of what I get with both door cherry switches in the door open position, belly glass closed position and the cash can closed position.

Thanks Tim.  I've bypassed both the switch for the bv door and the belly door.  Jim suggested the mpu switch could be the culprit but I believe this one has been bypassed.  I see what I believe to be a mount for a switch towards the front top side of the mpu housing but I can't find wiring that might have gone to it.

{{. I tore into the my wiring looms and the wiring in my pic is indeed for player tracking so disregard this post.  Still looking for the issue.  }}

I did find 3 wires that were cut.  Solid red, green, and black.  It looks like wires associated with the various switches have a solid green wire and another wire with trace or color.  It's tough to know what wires were for player tracking etc that was removed from the machine.  Any idea if this is the issue?

The wires are part of the loom that goes to the door switch as well as to the attendant key as up into the top cabinet.

So just to follow up.  After searching and trying to find an issue with a door switch with no success, I swapped out the mpu from another 044 machine I have and put it in this machine.  After getting through all the alarms, there were no 'OPEN B' messages!  I pulled that board out and put the original back in.  At this point I had removed the bv from the machine to get access to the harness behind it so  the machine was looking for the bv.  I re-cleared the machine and set it back up and it had no error either!

Only difference was I did another clear.  I am going to move around the harness, etc to be sure it isn't a connection issue but at this point it seems after the second clear, it is happy and working!

I just encountered the same situation on a 17" upright. Door Open B. I gotta say am glad I found this forum thread and wanted to share my experience with my Door Open B issue. I am setting up this machine to just be free play with tito and hand pay. So no BV or printer will be used.

 When I RAM cleared & set up the cabinet. I had no BV installed and the BV door switch was open at this time. The machine enabled the BV by default after the ram clear. So I turned it off when setting up the machine. Closed up the machine and tried to play it, then realized I had door open B. So I jump wires at the BV switch and no change. I turned the BV setting back on and still no change. Then I read this forum thread. I went back out to the shop. Did another RAM clear with the BV door switch closed and now the Door Open B is gone. The status does change with opening or closing the switch also. Its been working fine for a couple days now. Sorta odd but I'll take it as its fixed.

Just to clarify, you are saying the status of the BV door switch at the time of doing setup?
If I understand that correctly that is fantastic to know.

I assume you are asking me this question? If so I am not 100% sure what you are asking. When I first RAM cleared & did set up there was no BV installed and the BV door was open. After set up the door B would not change to closed when jumping the switch (machine has no cash box door to trigger the switch). Then I RAM cleared with the door switch jumped closed. Now it indicates closed and it also does change from closed to open when I open/close the circuit. All I know is I could not get the door open B to go away until I did another RAM clear with the BV door circuit closed. I don't know if because no BV was installed or the door open during set up was the cause of why the door open B would not go away. But it sure seems like it was. All I did was another RAM clear and the only thing different was I had the BV door circuit closed.
