BB2 With Dead LCDs and Burnt P8 Aux DC on Power Supply
« on: June 14, 2026, 01:55:09 pm »
Hello,

I seem to be developing a problem with my Bluebird 2 Cabinets where the Connector Plug that powers the 2 LCD Displays  is burning up. This is Connector P8 on the Power Supply.

Ive now had this happen in 2 separate Cabinets with the same results. The machine is fully powered, but both Displays are blank/dead.

I verified that there is no voltage at the plugs to power the monitors, and discovered by tracing wires that it's the Aux DC Output on the Power Supply that is the problem.

If you look at the attached photos, you'll see the damage.

What I'm interested in knowing is, is this an indication that my Monitors are going bad and drawing too much current? Or, is this a common problem on these Cabinets?

Like I said, that's 2 different machines with the same issue. And, after checking Power Supplies in my other machines, I noticed that the same pin on all of them is slightly discolored and burnt, which means it's just a matter of time before those fail as well.

Anyone experienced this in the past? Is it a weak Power Supply or bad LCD? Or just poor Grounding like the S+ Power Harnesses?

Thanks,

Curtis ash100

You'd be surprised how COMMON this issue is on BB2s. It does come from poor grounding and the monitors tending to draw too much current like you said.

My BB2 had the same issue as yours, for me I was lucky to find a whole new harness and put it in my BB2 along with a new power supply. For you, you may have to cut the burnt wire and recrimp the pin(s) along with giving it a new connector, and possibly a new power supply unless if someone can solder you a new power supply connector.

I've had to do this repair on three different BB2 machines now.
I cut the wire, solder a new extension wire and install a new pin.
Then I pull all the pins out of the burned Molex and replace it.
Important to have all the right tools for the job for sure.

Thanks for the replies, sorry I'm late getting back to you guys.

Yeah, it's kinda crazy that it happens that way, and without warning.

I guess I'll try to do some amperage readings on that Harness with different Monitors being powered through it and see if I can locate one with an excessive current draw. Because the Monitors all still work in other cabinets.

I'll order some spare pins and repair the burnt connector inside of the machine, and I've already replaced the Circut Board inside of the Power Supply that has those female connections on it.

Thanks again.
