BB2 Airplane Problem
« on: June 24, 2026, 07:44:19 pm »
Hi, I have Airplane for my BB2, the game pays and plays just fine yet I go to cash out a ticket and when it prints the ticket it crashes the game and forces it to reboot, yet when done rebooting it’ll go back to normal.

I tried different games and it doesn’t crash on other games, nor trying different OS versions

Bad software maybe?

Because you've tried other games without it crashing, you'd think it would be software related.
It would have been helpful if you gave us the numbers of the software you're running?
That would help us give you a better answer.

I would try that Airplane CF card in another cabinet, to see if the crash follows the card.

By numbers, you mean software part number or error? If you’re asking for an error, that’s the thing. The crash happens like if someone flipped the power switch off and back on again.

As for trying it in another cabinet? I have only one BB2, perhaps trying another CPU may do the trick? My current CPU has 2GB of memory if that helps. (I should really get a second BB2 haha!)

My copy of Airplane is: DC88-000-1040

The two OS cards I’ve used: H13.37 and H13.531

Maybe I should try and use H13.15 or H13.471? No idea if that will make a difference.

I have several questions, but that is the best info I can give out.

My knowledge of WMS is fair, but not that great compared to many others

Yeah...I was wondering what version of the software you're trying...Airplane: DC88-000-1040

The two OS cards you tried: H13.37 and H13.531

Maybe someone will have a sheet that shows exactly what you need to run it.
I'm nowhere near the machines right now but when I am, I will just check to see which OS is running with the game.

A quick Google search brought this list up, and shows your game being the first one on it...haha...>>>

Neat, sometimes you can find cool things on Scribid

Anywho, I powered the game back on today, it still did the thing where it feels the need to reboot the CPU when printing a voucher. After the game came back up, I put a voucher in and then cashed out, and no reboot happened at all. I even put the voucher back in and cashed it back no, no odd force reboot and went like normal

Odd behavior I must say.

Oh...I thought you tried it in another cabinet? Guess not.

Anyways, there's probably zero link between software and printer causing a reboot unless you have a short in the cabinet.
Should the problem come back, I'd suspect a shorted wire with the printer somewhere.
Check that single, orange wire on the printer harness back to the power supply.

My wiring looks good.

Here’s the strange part for me:

Trying this exact method with other games that I own (IL VGT Gamechest, Ruby Slippers) and I put free play in them and when I go to cash out? No weird reboot or anything. It cashes out like normal and the game remains on.

I slightly doubt it is the printer, but knowing WMS that is a great possibility.

My two theories that the CPU is not liking certain games or my copy is crap. But the printer as you said is a big possibility.

I will get back to this topic in a bit after looking at the printer harness, never hurts to check.

Remember this...>>>

ANY positive powered wire, even momentarily shorting out to cabinet ground, will cause the CPU to re-boot.

The printer harness is suspect because whenever you start to print, the printer paper motor shakes the harness, and the harness goes into that square-ish sharp-edged hole down to the connector.
Many times that's exactly where the a wire on the printer harness cover is cut thru, and shorting out.
Other times, it's that small single orange wire on the printer harness, that runs by itself back to the power supply, that's suspect.

Very good advice here.

I will look into this further when I get a moment and get back to this topic if I find something.
