Version EPROM CRC Error 0xF002 — New MPU, Brand New VS011GX1 Chip

Hey all — running into a Version EPROM CRC Error 0xF002 on an S2000 and could use some experienced eyes on this.
Background:

Original MPU board had corrosion and was throwing low battery / door-not-shut errors that we couldn't get past, so we replaced the battery and ultimately swapped in a brand new MPU board (Model 1952-2, board p/n 75510504EX Rev B).
Chips:

GME1/GME2 (SG000362) and Stepper chip — original/old chips, reused from the prior board, no corrosion visible on these
Version chip — ordered new, VS011GX1 (multi-denomination), confirmed the part number matches what was on the original board's Version chip before that label tore

Troubleshooting done so far:

Confirmed correct orientation, no bent pins on the Version chip
Reseated the Version chip multiple times
Have Clear and Key chips available and ran a full Clear + Key procedure
Board otherwise behaves normally — got through the RAM error and clear sequence fine, error is isolated specifically to reading the Version chip
Haven't yet tried the second Version chip socket on the board, or reseating the main power connector — planning to try both next

Found an old thread here (topic 1167) describing the same error code, where reseating resolved it for that user, but multiple reseats haven't fixed it for me. Wondering if this points to a bad burn on the new chip, or something else I'm missing given it's a new MPU. Any insight appreciated.

Looks like your version chip is cooked. Was it installed backward? <5 seconds of power on destroys them if so.
Also, there is only one version chip socket.

OK I'll just order another one. Its possible I accidentally installed it incorrectly. I ordered this version chip from mattsbasementarcade.com. Is there a different place I can order a replacement part?

The new version chip I ordered from RB worked. He walked me through the clear and key chip process as well. No further errors discovered.
