S2000 Enhanced Audio SIMM Reprogramming

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone undertaken re-flashing audio SIMM's with custom sound files?  I'm wondering if there is any checksum operation or signatures that would complicate it.

When you say Enhanced simm program that is confusing because there are no enhanced simms. There are enhanced flash boards that  are used on 0127 processor boards. 
When it comes to simms, there are only the standard simms, CG, pixel and sound, although pixel and sound simms can be written over and used as either a pixel or sound simm.
Now, if you are just talking about making a custom simm with custom sounds then that may be doable, but you would have to get around a hash or two.

Maybe I should have said Enhanced Audio -- SIMM reprogramming, but yes, my goal is to make a custom SIMM with custom sound files.  I can't find much information on the SIMM's other than the fact that it is possible to reprogram them somehow. I'm going to start by pinning out the PCB to rough out a schematic.


Edit: I found some listings for SIMM burners that have previously sold, so they do exist and are somewhat available.

yes, yes and yes.  Someone got some Ozzy audio to work on a sound simm but it was very difficult and then there's the copyright/editing software legal issues.

Just an update:  I worked on this for the last couple months and was able to make a nice system for reprogramming simm audio.  The hardware was pretty straightforward but the simm format took a while to completely decode.  More info is posted in the FB group.
