I guess i am what you would call a newbie with slots. I have worked on computers and tvs for years , but now i own two IGT slots, and one pashilo. the problem i have is with my " Stinkin Rich " IGT 3902 mpu. It works great , but when it hits the " trash for cash" bonus it errors out ( critical data error) and i have to reset to play again. I had to replace a couple of caps on the mpu and a new monitor ,but i think the problem might be in one of the game simms. any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

What DSS chip do you have on the MML2 board?

cleaned and re-seated almost everything. not sure yet which chip does what, but i learn very quickly. I think the simm on the upper " daughter " board is the sound. there is one more simm on the main mpu. i think it has something to do with graphics, and about 4 or 5 dipp chips. sorry about being new to this, but i really like doing this kind of stuff, and am eager to learn more ( DSS chip ?? ) MML2

Yes the daughter board is the MML2 sound board, the sound simm on it should be DSS00383 for stinkin rich.

the main "keys to riches" bonus, and all other game functions work perfect, but "trash for cash" bonus errors every time. I have to key and re-set. I don't lose my tito settings, but it loses credits back to 0

Is there a way to repair the game simms and chips, or re-load, if thats where the error ls ?

Yes the chips and simms can be replaced, but I am not sure they are the problem. Usually if one is bad it won't pass the CRC check done on them at boot time. I think it would be more likely that you have an MPU, or MML2 board failure.
Send it to me and I can get it sorted, or get a new MPU and move your software to it to rule it in or out.

Something new, or maybe something old just getting worse. Now if i power off for more than a couple days, I have to re-chip to setup my Tito to get freeplay to work. Seems like it defaults back to basic settings. When i got the game it had a 3v battery soldered in. I replaced it with a holder and 3.6v. hope that was ok. I have checked voltage on the battery several times. it always tests good.

UPDATE...I moved my game software to a known working 3902 board. Same " trash for cash " error, so then i replaced the eeprom with a new blank one, and the first time i hit the bonus it worked , but the next times it errored again and again...WTF

I don't know if it will help, but i think i will do the eeprom mod and solder one on the mpu. can't hurt, rite, plus i do have more than one mpu and games. If anyone has any ideas, or thoughts on what i can try next, please chime in. Why did the " Trash For Cash " bonus work one time only???

I got a new game last night, and put it on the MPU " Wild For Dolphins " I put in a new blank eeprom with the game. Key chipped first ( of course ). the game worked perfect till it hit the " talent show bonus " same error. The pearl bonus works fine.....Could this be caused by the backplane. The game was tested before i got it from Babydoll Gaming. Now i have 3 games doing the same thing with 2 different mpu's. It has to be the motherboard rite? I put in a new eeprom with each game.

Have you changed the MML2 board, or just the MPU? If so, about all that's left is the backplane but I cannot think of anything on it that would cause a software problem.

Agreed. Check for bent pins from MML2 board to MPU also.

do you get the critical data error every time, or does the error change to something else when you hit the trash for cash?

i finished the eeprom mod on the stinkin rich, and the trash for cash worked twice, so i did the mod on the dolphins but the talent show errored . the pearl bonus works. i tried pulling the eeprom from the BP and neither game would work with just the mpu eeprom

By the way, I played both games without the MML2 boards, but i didn't hit any bonuses. just no sound. should i play the games with the sound boards till i hit ? Also i played over 100 spins before i pulled the eeprom from the BP, but they still won't work without BP eeprom.
