IGT S2000 - Insert Coin / Coin-in Error
« on: July 19, 2026, 01:19:01 pm »
Issue suddenly started last week. Display is saying to Insert Coin. It will work while this message is appearing. It eventually changes to the Coin-in Error. Now the machine will do nothing. You can open the door and the Coin-in error returns to the Insert Coin, and the cycle starts all over again. It is a coinless machine with Bill Validator and Printer.

Check that your door I/O card(s) are not loose. Do so with the power off!
Insert Coin is normal, even if you have no coin handling equipment.

I have gone thru all the cards in the door. Reset all the connecters and reset all the boards.  I have made things worse.  Added the DOOR OPEN M error in addition to the original Coin-In error.

Tried pulling out the white plunger for maintenance mode and still get both errors.

I can say that when the door is closed the internal light in the bottom does go out.

Sounds like time to get the MPU looked at.

In a few situations, I have seen where the MPU is not making connections right and causes both of these.  Here's a few things to try:

1.) With power off (always power off for anything but BV or Printer) pull the MPU out, look at the edge connector and make sure you don't have any bent pins.  Look really closely, somtimes a pin in a corner will get smooshed down, be VERY CAREFUL fixing this as they do break off if not done right.
2.) Assuming no bent pins, I have seen oxidation on the pins cause weird issues - spray the edge connector with contact cleaner.  With the power off, insert the mpu and pull out a few times, then spray again, then insert and pull out another couple of times. Then pull out and let dry.  Then re-insert (once dry) and power off, see if problem returns
3.) Power Supply (again with power off) - Sometimes power supplies will cause all kinds of weird errors.   If you don't have a spare to swap with, let's clean the power connectors - (and you should always IMO have a spare PSU for S2000's).  Remove the reels carefully, then slide the PSU to the left, remove it, spray connector with contact cleaner, re-insert, pull out, re-insert, pull out, then remove again, spray connector again, re-insert, pull out, re-insert pull out, leave out until dry.  Once Dry, re-insert, see if this resolves issues.

Post back with your progress and updates
