DBV-200 ID Protocol Question
« on: July 22, 2026, 09:41:34 am »
I've searched around this site and the old site and found a couple times this question had been asked but things always got turned in another direction and never really answered the original question. So, if I needed a DBV-200 with ID-044 and had an eprom style DBV-200 with a different ID, is it possible to install a DBV-200 ID-044 eprom and then have what I need or is the ID protocol not on the chip and hard programmed on the board???

Thanks for taking the time!

My understanding is Yes! As long as the eprom is the removable type. However, I do not know if there is anything else that needs to be done, for example an alignment card. It would be nice to see a step-by-step of the process.

There is two different types of DBV-200 heads, and each has two different types of memory, EPROM and Flash.  Bally, WMS, Sigma use the type that has a small bill guide at the front and the electrical connector on the right side has different amount of pins compared to the IGT version. The IGT version is flush on the front. Bally and IGT DBV-200 heads are not interchangeable.  ID044 is for Bally, WMS, and Sigma. The protocol is stored in the EPROM or if you have flash memory type, it has a surface mount chip, then the board/head would have to be reflashed by JCM programmer tool. I offer service to reflash DBV's.

I have heard of people removing the surface mount chip using a dremel and soldering in a socket.
Beyond my ability..... I would be inclined to send it to Jim or RB and have it flashed.
