S2000 Coin In Error - Check I/O 75427801 with 75427802 & get Coin In Jam

I aquired an S2000 recently with a 75427801 I/O door board. Everything onthe machine works perfectly, except coin in. When I insert a coin I get a coin in error, the coin in makes no sound in, but it goes into hopper. I changed optics & did contiuity on harness wires & now attempting I/O. I've tried a few good 75427802 & always get a door error that won't clear with doo open close.  I assumed the 801 & 802 were interchangeable?  Am Imissing a step or setting? Coinless is disaled. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

This does sound like you have a problem with the MPU, and not the I/O boards really - aren't those for the button deck switches?
Please, make sure you do NOT have the power ON when swapping in/out those delicate i/o boards.
There's a small fuse on them that love getting zapped out, rendering them dead - if the power is ON.
There might be another problem too.

There's a sandwiched board that is located underneath the coin comparitor called the "coin-in optic boards".
That is where the coin breaks the ABC optical beams to register credits back to the MPU.
The coin comparitor only compares coins.
If the coin is good, it allows the coins to fall down between the coin-in optic boards to get registered.
If not, the coin comparitor keeps the "rake" closed and directs the coins back into the coin tray.
Now, since the CC is sending the coins between the coin-in optics and into the hopper, that means the coin is good, but is getting "eaten" up and not registering as a credit back to the computer.
That means you have a problem with either the coin-in optic boards, or the MPU.
Swap or replace one or the other to single out the problem.

Thirdly, you never mentioned what coins you're using or what coin-in optic is configured for.
If you have a large coin encoder, a smaller coin like a quarter or nickel will miss one of the optic beams and get "eaten" by the machine....in other words, the coin-in optic will NOT register the coin falling thru as credit.
The black plastic encoder coin guide in the optic sandwich has to be correct for the coin that you're using.
attached below are a couple of photos showing the differences between them.
you can see the nickel will miss the holes in the encoders where the infrared light of the optic beams go thru.
I know the photos are from an S+ machine...these black plastic encoders were used in the IGT S2000's too.
It's just an example of the difference between using nickel and quarter encoders.

The reasons for this was that near the end of the IGT S2000 run in many casinos, they converted many of them into high limit machines - with $5 or $10 denominations.
So instead of quarters, they set up the machines to use large casino tokens or Eisenhower $1 dollar coins.
Likewise, the coin slot on the button deck was wider and longer, the hopper wheel had a smaller shelf disk so they wouldn't get jammed in the hopper, and the coin-in encoders under the comparitor were wider.

The door I/O card has absolutely nothing to do with a Door Open error with the door closed. Are you sure it doesn't say 'Closure M'?  Try an 801 board. Not all door I/O card sockets are addressed to take 802's.

I tried the 2 802s again, because i rememberexact error. I get Coin In Jam & Door open M. Sorry about that. I currently donate an 801

Also the 802s work fine after I put them back in IGames. Machine is quarters

The biggest issue I see is, your quarters are not getting registered back to the MPU, as credits.

"Coin-in jam" could also be an MPU problem. 
Can you show us a good clear, high-resolution photo of your MPU...especially around the battery area?
I would like to see the condition of your MPU.

I swapped the MPU from another of my machines & fixed the issue. So it's going coinless.

Glad you got it going Dan!
Those circuit traces you see jumped with the green wires, are about re-doing some lines for the reel drivers - doesn't really have anything to do with your "Coin-in Jam" messages.
You could always send your problem board out to member Lookes?
He's very good at repairing them.
