S2000 Stopped Working
« on: August 11, 2026, 09:42:10 pm »
Was playing my machine when these messages popped up:

Bill Validator Stacker Open
Door Open M

Any help to get my machine back up and running would be appreciated!

If you have an MEI Cashflow "yellow banana" bill validator, with plastic cashbox and a yellow handle, inside the cashbox is the mechanism that stacks the bills.
On that stacker unit, is a small, plastic optical prism.
Dust gets on it, and doesn't allow light to go thru - making the computer think that the cashbox is out of the machine.
Could you show me a picture of the inside of your cashbox, with the door opened?
From there, I'll be able to tell you what would the next best thing to do.

Also, we need a good, high-resolution photo of the MPU circuit board.
Make sure the machines power switch is turned OFF before attempting to slide it out.
On that MPU board, there's a large green battery.
That thing leaks acid and eats away at tiny circuit traces - causing your board all sorts of errors.
There's various stages of acidic damage.
Hopefully you've caught your damage in time for it to be repaired.
There's a fellow member here named Lookes, who's very good at doing those types of board repairs.

My cash box does have a yellow handle and a gray plastic box.  Having issues sending you a photo.  Hope this helps!

Also check the cash can switch, that the switch has been bypassed, and that the belly door switch has been bypassed as well., these switches can cause the condition you describe.

You can get into the machine diagnostic and actually test the door optic circuits.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback.  Finally solved the problem from an old friend I met years ago on MLG.  Here was the solution in case someone else has the same problem.

I turned the machine on, reset the cash box, closed the main door and turned the jackpot key once and the machine reset and started working!

...I turned the machine on, reset the cash box, closed the main door and turned the jackpot key once and the machine reset and started working!

Do you mean that you "re-seated" the cashbox? Meaning you took it out, then pushed it back in?
That would mean that the cashbox was never fully inserted correctly in the first place, or the interface card could have a bad, weakened contact spring.
That seems to be happening with these interface cards these days - as they've been depressed by the BV head contacts for over twenty years now.

Turning the Jackpot Reset key, with the door closed, would have put you into the Accounting Menu...unless the machine was asking you to perform an "attendant hand-pay".
