IGT S+ Model B5113 Has a smell like sulfur or rotten eggs.

I have located where the smell is coming from.  I see on the top of the Power Supply there is a gel and looks like maybe a broken part is attached to it.

My problem is getting the power supply out.  I have taken out all the screws I can see, but the box doesn't budge.  The top of it looks
like it should either slide forward or off to the left side.  The problem also seems that there is a vertical metal piece in front of the metal bill box that will not let this top slide forward.

Does this metal piece come off.  Also, how do I get the whole metal box to come forward?

I am attaching some pictures, hopefully they will help.

Only one screw holds that supply to the bottom of the cabinet. That part is from the handle, the “gel” used to be on that part. It acts as a dampener when the handle is returned. The gel has run down between the supply and cabinet side, and is acting like a glue to hold it in place.
You will have to use a big screwdriver to pry from the side and bottom to loosen it, then remove .
Clean all the gel off and replace.
The power cord should enter from the rear of the machine, there is a notch where the cord enters.

Hope this helps

Jim

What a coincidence.  I just posted about some orange dampener goop I found in my machine under the crank mechanism.  Jay said it’s not a big deal as long as thing still function and it doesn’t drip onto important components.

The "gel" originally is a solid stopper to dampen the snap back of the slot handle.  Over time, this substance degrades into this gel form, but if you are lucky enough to have an S+ or an s2000 with an intact stopper, you can see how the original part looked like before it became glop.

When you said 1 screw in the handle holds the power supply.  Did you men the screw on the outside of the handle.  There are 3 on the outside, .
or did you mean a screw on the inside of the machine at the handle?

I'm attaching some pictures of the outside and inside of the handle.
Also would the melted gel smell like sulphur or rotton eggs.  When I turn the machine on, within a minute the smell starts.

...When you said 1 screw in the handle holds the power supply.  Did you men the screw on the outside of the handle...
No, Jim meant there's one screw that holds the power supply to the floor.
There's another screw on the left side of the power supply box that secures the cover.
You have to get that off to undo yet another screw that holds the power supply to the cabinet wall... :rotfl:
Once you get all those off, you can pull out the power supply box.

As for the slot handle, there's a hex bolt in the very bottom of the handle.
It's easier to get at if you remove the topbox glass first, and gently lay down the cabinet onto it's left side.
Takeout the heavy stuff first like the coin hopper and the power supply...the machine will be much lighter to lay down.
Now, look at the bottom of the handle, there's a hole, in there is a hex bolt that you need to use the correct sized Allen key in order to remove that and the washer.
Once removed, you can wiggle/work the handle out of the shaft, and then you can pop off the IGT logo cover hub.
Inside the cabinet in the handle mechanism are 3 nuts that secure the handle that you can remove with a socket wrench.
Offhand I think they're either 7/16" or 1/2" nuts?
You can find out in which holes they are and approx. where they're located,  by judging the bolts surrounding the shaft on the outside of the cabinet.
The top 2 nuts are sort of easy to remove, it's that bottom nut where you have to sort of wiggle the socket around the springs to get the socket onto the nut...you'll see....use a socket extension to help work the socket around the springs with some leverage.
You first need to undo the wiring connectors at top, for the handle release solenoid, and also the two wires located lower - for the handle microswitch.
You don't want to rip those apart when the handle mech comes off the wall.
Take your time...this is a hobby, not a job...lol
