Have Had Slot over 20 years; Reel em In, WBA12/13-$$/SU-USA Not Accepting bills

I have had my "Reel EM In", model 055 for at least 25 years.  It has a WBA12/13-$$/SU-USA or WMS RS232-BD bill validator in it (I think this is correct).  I haven't tried using it for many, many, years.  I know it took the old treasurer dollar bills and maybe $5 dollar bills.  But they changed the marking on the bills (I don't remember what year).  I tried for the first time in in many years to put a $5 dollar bill in it yesterday, but it made an odd sound and returned it to me.  I tried several $5 dollar bills and the same on all of them.
I had a dollar bill, a new kind, and it took it.
Is there a way I can update it to accept new bills up to $100?  Do I need a new changer or what?

If it has an EPROM on the bottom side of the transport, you can purchase an updated EPROM. If it does not have the EPROM, it has flash memory and will need to be reflashed for the updated firmware with a JCM programmer. If you need flash update, I do offer that service.
