1093 Top Hat feature issue
« on: September 13, 2026, 01:58:51 am »
So I have my Top hat working really well except for when I get to start the 10 game coin flip feature.  Once you line up the 3 dancing girls it pays 20 coins and the feature engages with the stepper resetting to 10 games as it should.  But once you insert the next coin the feature disengages and you continue playing as normal.

Ive gone over a bunch of switches but haven't found anything obvious.  Because it's happening with a coin drop, I'm thinking more along the lines of the coin relay but I'm not sure.

Here's a quick video

do you have the schematic?

I have pictures of most of a schem for the 1093 (denmark) version, but kinda hard to read because of faded ink.

if the name of the unit keeping track of the 10 plays is the super jackpot unit and one of those relays is the super jackpot relay, then take a look at the super jackpot unit "open at top" switch with yellow and green/white wires.  That switch is poking out over the white plastic gear/ratchet that steps the unit wipers, and it should only open when the unit is at the top/last step.

a quick test is set up the win and manually trip the handle release relay.  If the super jackpot relay unpowers, it's the open-at-top switch or plug connections assuming your machine is basically the same as the danish version.

No I don't have the schematics, which makes it tricky on games like this with features etc.

OK so it does disengage when you trip the handle relay manually, so that narrows it down.

The wire colours etc look to be the same as the Danish model.

I have attached a couple of pics of the stepper unit.  First pic shows it in its home position. Switch on the far left is closed.  Next 3 switches are all open.

Next pic show the stepper when the feature is hit and the reset coil activates and steps up to position 10 as it should.  Switches are now opposite.  Far left switch is open, and the next 3 switches are closed.

So I'm wondering is one of those closed 3 switches are meant to be open?  The first 2 switches from right to left are the ones with the yellow wire and white/green wire.

pedantically, a stepper unit resets to position 0 then steps up from there.   You just have the less common case where a stepper unit is usually sitting at its top step rather than it's 0/reset position.  Top = where there's a missing tooth on the ratchet so the thing can't physically step more.

the switch on the left operated by the white plastic peg is the "open at 0" switch.  It just disconnects the reset coil when the unit has reset.

the other switches are all operated by the metal peg and on this unit are all closed until the unit is at the top step.

whether the unit steps up 9 or 10 times from reset you'll need to check, but it doesn't matter much.  As long as the three switches don't open until the unit steps to the top step, that's what ya care about.

the three switches not necessarily in order on the stack are:

1] white/green to somethingmaybe mostly green - turns on the super J.P. light
2] no idea on the wire colors, but one wire goes to the step-up coil on the super jackpot unit so the step-up coil doesn't fire when the unit is at the top step
3] yellow and green/white.  In circuit to keep the super J.P. relay powered until you've had your ten spins.

note since the 1-10 numbers count down, unit reset = lamp 10 lit.

attached is the schem piece for the circuit.  It's possible the open-at-top switch is ok and switch in the right branch on the super J.P. relay is the problem IF the regular J.P relay normally unpowers when the handle release is tripped.  Might as well check that switch first and if no luck, I'd either jumper closed the [3] switch above to see if the super J.P. relay stays powered like it should or bung a voltmeter on the circuit to see where the issue is.
