What platform is this for? I know S+ had more than one part number for Coin Optics.

Yes S+ - It's from a PE & the same I would guess?

That is not an S+ optic.  It looks like it could be an M series since it has a 1984 Date.

It's an early  IGT  PE poker  coin optic.   (could be pe+ )  I just remember seeing them on the  old IGT poker games.  ( pre-BV models )

You know what, I have a box of older coin optics! Let me try and find them and see what I have! I had all of the lumped into S+ optics, as that's what they appeared to be, but as I've sold them, I ran across oddballs...early stuff, so I may just have one for ya!  I remember them because they had a different color pin-on thingy, like mint green...

I will look and report back!

what problem are you having with the optic?    you might be able to sub a 10 pin optic for the 5 pin optic, probably would have to change the harness form the 12 pin plug to the optic,  would need to know the wire colors in the 12 pin connector, pin #12 is no connection. also have to change the cc-16 wire harness.

Optic gives a "COIN IN TIMEOUT" error & once in a while I can get it to clear & it will accept only 1 coin in & then gives the error on the second coin in. This machine worked for yers with this 5 pin optic in it & the error is recent

Wire colors on main female plug from cabinet
#1 red w/blk       #4 orange w/red   #7 orange w/grn     #10 green
#2 orange w/blk  #5 orange            #8 orange w/blu     #11 orange w/wht
#3 orange w.brn  #6 orange w/yel  #9 orange w/purp   #12 empty

This is the exact same wiring colors as with my PE+ with a 10 pin optic. If I use a 10 pin optic in this particular machine it clears the error, but it won't register the coins in? I have another PE non plus machine with the exact same 5 pin optic & it works perfect in this machine also?

traced all the wiring, the 10 pin should work, all the wiring matches up. the only thing I could suggest would be the following: first  write down the wire colors on the ten pin connector, pin 1 is on the bottom. then remove wire 5-8-9, tape these separately, now, on the optic board, remove Q-2 or Q-4, this is a  surface mount transistor.  Not the optics.   It should work now.

should be able to check the 5 pin optic in the same manner as the S+ except you would use the screen and watch the zero change to a 1 when you block the optic with something, should tell which one is defective, the switch should change one of them.

I took a 10 pin & hooked it up to the PE with the working 5 pin optic in it & it did the same thing as the other machine. No error, but does not register the coin in & coins go into the hopper. I tried several 10 pin optics with no luck?

Dan,  doesn't make any sense,  coin in LED signal comes in pin 2 , it goes over to provide power to the  three IR emitters.the three detectors  are hooked to ground on one side, the collector exists the connector as the signal to the cpu board.since we disconnected the three wires I told you to disconnect, and Q-4 was removed from the optic board (takes a ground off the optic A ) that board is now a three IR emitter and detector.




What was the result of the on screen test with the optics??
