Bartop GK blowing fuse on power up

Hey guys,

Throwback Thursday question! Have a customer with a video bartop (drop in) GameKing (older machine) that is blowing the main fuse each time it's powered on. Didn't the early GKs (like right after PE+) still have fuses? 

I am leaning towards an issue with the cord or maybe a short in the monitor chassis or frame?

Any ideas? Power supply and board have been replaced, but to no avail of course.

If it's fused, does it by chance use a slo-blo type fuse? Sometimes with the initial power surge on startup a regular fuse can't handle it. I know nothing about these machines but older electronics weren't as smooth as the later stuff. Just a thought.

But when you say main fuse do you mean the breaker the receptacle is hooked to? If that's the case it's a dead short. Don't the light ballasts cause problems when they go out sometimes. Also how much stuff do they have running on that circuit? Trying to think of things that would kick breakers or fuses.

Roz,   the only way to find the problem would be to remove board. power supply, and monitor chassis ( if it is removable) or unplug it, or any other removable
subassembly, turning power on with all these removed will not hurt anything,  then see if it still blows,  if it does then you have to start unplugging harness by harness until you find out which one is causing the problem.  then figure out what is on that harness and where it goes and start tracing wires. If the machine worked fine at one time, I would start looking where the hinges or door would be and see if there are any pinched wires or wires that have their insulation open.

Thanks guys! Hopefully it will be an easy fix...yah right! The fact that so many things have been replaced tells me it that's not going to be the case! I will report back what I hear.
