bill validator
« on: November 27, 2015, 05:30:00 pm »
Hello everyone,   I have this S plus slot machine and the bill validator used to work fine,  the main door on the slot machine got slammed hard about six times in a row, the bill validator will  not accept bills anymore. when I power up the machine I hear the bill validator cycle and do everything used to do but the light will not come on on the outside of the door and it will not accept bills. I've checked all the connections removed installed bill validator to three times, it still will not light up or accept bills, always worked fine until the door got slammed hard five or six times. The machine operates and plays perfectas it did before just the bill validator is not working. I did notice that all of the dip switches are in the down position is that normal. ?? anyone have any ideas what I could check next's ????

Hi Lucky, I would check to see if the door optics are out of alignment first of all. That can be done with masking tape and a pencil mark on the door and machine. If the marks don't line up with the latch all the way down the optics need to be adjusted. Also make sure the cash can door is completely closed if the optics are still hooked up on it. If they are and a wire got pinched or something, cut the wires on the cash door optics strip them back a little and twist them together. Wire nut, tape etc.  Do not do this to the door optics as they are completely different in setup. The b/v will not operate until it reads either door closed. The dip switch positions are correct. I guess my last question would be is the machine operating and just the b/v not working or is neither working?

hi shaggy  thanks for your reply, yeah the machine operates perfectly like it always did before, I just can't  get the bill validator to  except a bill. when I turn on the machine I  here it power  up and go through it cycle, but when you stick a bill in it nothing happens is like the bill validator is turned off.

Well after looking at the pics some more, I see that it's an mei Mars acceptor. I am not sure on the dip switch positions but I can't imagine a slamming door causing them to change. That being said, I think you need to look for a plug that has come loose, something along that line. The bezel and it's light board are mounted in the door. Slamming could have caused something to come loose or even break. I would check around that bezel and board for something damaged. If a wire was hanging low enough, it could have caught on the duckbill and got severed. You've had the b/v and stacker out and back in and it's cycling so I would start to look in the door area. Also after checking one of mine unless you're holding the latch up, it comes down and the door won't go completely shut. Which still brings me back to the door.    :Scratch-Head:

With the door closed and latched, will the machine operate with coins?

If it's operating with coins, and the bill validator is enabled in the settings but it's not even attempting to take a bill, it's likely an issue with the validator not seeing the stacker box ("cash can") seated correctly, or some other issue in the validator itself.  I'm not familiar with the Mars acceptors at all, though, so other than saying to make sure everything is seated correctly in the validator assembly, I unfortunately don't have a lot of other advice to offer on this one.

This is very elementary question, worth a shot as we sometimes overlook little things.

How many credits are on the machine currently?

hi everybody thank you for your response I still can't do is  bill validator to work,  I've checked all the wiring, all the connections. it does operate fine on just coins. I checked the cash can/stacker it seems to be seated  properly  I don't know what else to try. to have some ideas feel free to share them with me. thank you very much I really appreciate it. I don't see how does slamming the door a few times could make this happen in less a wired got pinched the door which I checked, or something broke free or came loose which I checked, so I'm still trying to  yet it going.

Does the BV activate at all when the machine is powered on or when the cash box is re-installed? There is a power supply for the BV to the left of the unit.

check to see if you have a toggle switch mounted on the front right side , this put the BV in the accept mode, up is normal operation, down typically will make the door bezel blink on and off.   That's on a ZT1202, not sure about a ZT1101.    check to see if the flap is working on the rear of the BV housing assembly, it interacts with the cash can. when the transport unit is installed into the top and is pushed all the way back you will see a flap come forward and interact with the cash can, I have seen where this part has broken (Pivot point)  its made out of plastic.  if these are good then you have to go back to basics,  check the bulbs in the denomination socket, verify that they are good,  is the unit cycling on power up after you cleared and set it up again? is the unit enabled( 9_1) and the denomination set?  then do test #27 in the input tests, it will turn on the bezel lamps and allow a bill to be inserted into the BV, it will hold the bill then return it.  if the unit does cycle, that would indicate that the power supply is putting out 12Vdc.

I have a working ZT1202 for sale,  take's all the new generation money EXCEPT, the latest 5,10, and 100.

Thank all you wonderful people for your patience with my ignorance.  but after reading Jim's email today from Midwest slots, I started thinking about that 9-1 enable bill validator  my paperwork says after you clear the RAM you're supposed to put the game chip  back in let the game boot up and cycle then take out the game chip again and put in the setup chip,   I have cleared the RAM on this machine and other S plus machines I have in the past and I've  have always follow those directions. this time of my frustration I cleared the RAM and then put the setup chip in I don't know if that anything to do with it but after reading Jim's email like I said I went back to the setup chip and made sure the 9-1  was able,   now the bill validator works perfect again.  thank all of you for your help what I do without you guys. I hope someday I could help one of you.
