Hey guys,

Machine down! I bought another VFD off the bay and still does not light up, anyone know what the problem could be or what else to trouble shoot. Thanks in advance.

Is it just the vfd that is not working, or does the machine not power up. What happens with the lights on the mpu board?

Yes, just the VDF is not working. When turned on- the green light and two yellow directly above green light are lit then once the start up process is done no lights are lit up on the mpu board. Thanks for the reply

does the game play then? There are also 3 different types of VFD versions available. Can you post a picture of the inside of your door so we further troubleshoot?

Yes the game plays and still accepts money.

Did you replace just the vfd or did you also replace the driver board where the ribbon cable goes to?

Just the VFD, anyway of knowing the driver board is bad? The driver board has some green lights that are flashing.

If you are pretty sure the VFD you bought is good I would reseat the ribbon cable and make sure none of the ribbon wires broke at the driver board connection, reseat all of the plugs going to the the driver card below the VFD.
This is a wierd one usally when the driver board goes bad it shuts down the machine. Green flashing leds are normal. Make sure none of the wires going to the driver got pinched or cut by the door.
If all of that checks out I would replace the driver board or try one from a working machine if available.

All the pins are intact and aligned. I switched out ribbons and still not working. I disconnected the driver board cables and the whole machine doesn't work then. Unfortunately, this is my only machine so I have no idea if the VFD I purchased from E-bay actually works. Any ideas were I can buy another one that has been tested?

ILK,

I noticed your bill validator light is not on. Try booting the machine up without the BV. I have had the BV cause a no display once. Also check your I/O connections. Be sure to power off before reseating any connections.

There are two diff. styles of lwr vfd's for these-old style with ribbon and one without-Both work just fine in a s-2k. As RB stated check the BV, I have also had this exact problem in the long ago past when I went through a couple hundred of theseand they were like gold. The Netplex sequence is not happeing as it should.

Turn your white vfd cover plate over the way it's supposed to be. The notch in it is where you tuck the ribbon cable in. I thought those displays had a 2 prong plug for a seperate power feed

Just the ribbon to the vfd. Connections for power go to the driver board.

Attempted to add part to my cart and states they are out of stock. I contacted the vendor.

All above suggestions attempted to no avail. BV is working fine, lights are on, removed and reseated several times.
May just have to order another VFD and driver.

Another set of parts arrived today- a driver board and another VFD with ribbon. All parts installed and I'm happy to say the VDF lights up again. I tested the other two VFD's I have and those work with the new board also. I also switched out the ribbons and the VFD still worked...so it looks the the driver board was the part malfunctioning.

Thanks for all the help provided by the members, this machine is turning into one expensive piggy bank, but still a lot cheaper than going to an actual casino.

I am in need of a VFD board can anyone direct me to a place to order one? Saw one on ebay but it was 45 bucks just for the board. Central vally has the display and board for 24. But I cannot get it to add to my cart.
