Help Needed with an E-1000 Hopper Board

Howdy All,
I have an E-1000 hooper board that looks good. All solder joints look good along with traces, no burns or damage seen to the board. The Test & Reset buton work fine, but it won't turn the hopper. I tried a different board & the hopper worked, so it's in the hopper board somewhere? Any suggestion on what may be needed to be replaced to get it going would be appreciated?

There are a couple of possibilities.

Check pin 8 of the connector for the presence of 120 VAC, if it isn't there, see if it exists
on pin 9. For this board in an E1000 machine the voltage should be on pin 8, if the board
had been used in an E2000 machine then the voltage needs to be on pin 9

The other thought is a bad relay RL1, you should be able to place an alligator clip lead across the
2 pins that stick up. Make sure that the alligator clips are not coming in contact with anything else
because this relay turns on the 120VAC to Q2 Triac,

Both Triac's are MAC15-6

120VAC is on 8. All the boards in this machine are original I assume, as they all have the same original sticker on them with the machine model number etc. I jumped RLY1 & it blew the hopper fuse as soon as I turn on the machine

Use a Ohm meter and check across the terminals of the three legged semiconductors at t he top near he heatsink and look for a short or any resistance reading below 20 Ohms across any two pins, if so replace that part.

Also your hopper motor could be bad, you can check it with a "suicide" cord. Disconnect the wires from the motor, make a zip cord with a AC plug on one end and two alligator clips on the other end with a 5 Amp fuse in series with one of the leads.

Use a power strip with a power switch, connect the alligator clips to the motor, plug the AC end into the power strip, plug the power strip in to the wall, turn on the power strip and see if the motor spins. Reverse procedure to safely disconnect.

I had tested the hopper motor with a suicide cord a while back & it worked fine. This board looks super clean with no visible damage or burn at all. I'll try the semicondctors later today. I also have some reed relays on their way to see if it's one of those, as dhellis suggested

check Q1 and Q2 with diode test function on your DMM.... looking at that circuit the relays are controlled by the IO signal originating from the mpu....

works like this MPU calls for hopper, sends signal to IO then IO sends to this board energizing relays, which when they close activate Q1/Q2 (thyristors) which are basically solid state switches energizing the motor..... When they fail they typically short, but can also go open too .... you can also like mentioned before check the relay coil winding's for open with your DMM

Test all the components youll find one bad theres not much to that board
