IGT Penny Hopper Conversion

Okay. Need some help here. I purchased an IGT S2000 $.01 hopper from John at Rudy's. Got the hopper, installed it in my 17" upright Game King/IGame machine, changed the coin from $.05 to $.01 in the CC16 comparator. Put a penny into the coin head (a nickle coin head) and it just slid through, did not recognize it. Is there something I missed or is this conversion just not possible? Do I need to find a penny coin head, change the comparator or make any adjustments? Any help out here would be appreciated. I emailed John and asked some questions, but haven't heard back from him yet. Thanks.

Chris,

I have never done a 1c coin in but the 5c coin head should work. One thing you might check is the sample coin. All pre 1982 & some 1982 pennies are copper. Some 1982 & all post 1982 pennies are zinc with a copper plating. Not sure if that is your case but might be worthy of checking.

I remember some time ago, a person made a sorting device using the cc-16 for that very purpose,  information and pictures should still be on the old site.

when copper price  was high they would run thousands of pennies through this device to sort the copper versus the zinc.

probably back around 2009/2010 /2011 time frame.
