Oh the CRT bashing begins.
CRTs will likely still have beautiful pictures long after the fluorescent tubes burn out in an LCD. Besides, Games that were designed on CRTs factually look better on a CRT.

That monitor is not that old, 1793s are still viable monitors and that particular unit is displaying exactly what the game board is sending. Red, green, blue,,yellow…multiple times. It shows well saturated color, no flickering, no v-lock problems, no convergence issues.
It could be power supply but locking at the exact same spot every time? Not likely.
1793s use a high-tech switching PS and they rarely have issues. When they do, its lights out until they are repaired.
According to the owner it stops at exactly the same spot every time, which means the game board is likely locking, likely right when the game chip attempts to boot…or load to memory. Besides, wouldn’t a 3902 board be booting by the time it hit the second sequence?

If you suspect the game is booting fine but the monitor is crapping out, he should be able to coin it up and play blind. Right?

Willie, I don’t think that wire goes to anything….do you see another wire with a socket it fits into?

If you genuinely feel the monitor board is a problem send it to me, I will check it as quickly as possible. Just remember to protect the neck board with your life!

Chris

Thank you Chris but I’m going to hold off that monitor for now, I’m going to get the new sound simm and a few other things first.
I’m going to pm you regarding a chassis for a different monitor.

Just remove the sound simm until everything else is ironed out.  Game will play without it for now.

Ive been working with these 3902 i-games for a while, one thing I didn't see mention is , when you put the game roms on the new MPU, you need to install Keychip 22 , clear all and  then setup the machine.
Sounds like it was working, just to go the keychip and setup.

I stepped away from this for awhile, but now I’m back.
Here is the update:
I bought a new 19 pin lcd monitor for this game, and now it comes right up.  So those who said it was a monitor problem, were correct. Thank you for that.
Now, onto my next problem:  the game comes up but I can’t do anything because I’m getting “door open” and “bill validator door open” error messages. There is no switch on the bill validator door, it looks like those two wires are wired together. Are far as the door open, I’ve swapped both door optic cables with known good ones and it’s not going away. I’ve also swapped out the board they plug and same thing.
Ideas?

Shorting, tying together, the bill validator door wires should solve your bill validator door open problem, but you say that that's been done, so could be another hardware issue causing that.

As for your door open error, a common issue is that there is a belly door switch, in most games. Sometimes this switch goes bad. Just tie these wires together this eliminating this switch all together.  See if this solves your problem in regards to the door open error you are getting.

There are no door switches anywhere. Actually there is one but it is wire to a night light socket, so when the top is open it is on, and when I push it the light goes off. The door open error message is not effected by this switch at all.

Been a while since I worked on a slant (sit down) I-Game. There isn't a belly switch per say on this slot. There are a whole host of damn door switches on the machine that could be the problem. Take a pic of the b/v switch that's been tied off. Next look for door switches everywhere a door is involved. That includes the drop drop door on the bottom.

I checked out the entire machine and there are no door switches that are wired, I found 2 sets of wires wired together. The one set is in the wiring harness for the BV, the other one looks like it may go to the door switch I told you about that is wired with a night light bulb. I’ll take some pictures but I always have the problem of them being too large and not going through.
I know how door switches are bypassed, how do you bypass the door optics in the cover?  Same way??

How do I access the operators menu on this machine?  I pressed the little white and nothing happens except a red led light to the left of the little white button flashed.
