Bill Validator problem WBA-12SS
« on: February 14, 2025, 01:17:19 pm »
Having problem with the bill validator not working, this all started after I hit the cash out button. I was able to put paper money thru to accept about 600 credits and then it stopped working. It's a WBA-12-SS thats on a tag on the body, when I turn the machine on it the validator goes thru a start up mode but it wont accept the money and there is no light to indicate that it;s working. I did notice on the side of the validator when machine is on there is 2 blinking red lights.  It's a older Double Diamond Deluxe machine.  Someone please help. Thanks  :Scratch-Head:

Thanks it's older double diamond bill machine, no coins I bought it used of course so dont now what the limits are but before this is i had close to 1400 credits and never had to add money to it. Since original post i was playing with it after seeing a post about setting dips and after setting them i was able to add a $20 to it and it worked once but after that it would not accept anymore money. One time after that i tried to add money to it and it accepted it but it got caught in the validator and sounded like it keep going in a circle

Do you know if it's an S+ or an S2000?
You really need to post photos  :Take_a_Photo: of the machine, and the bill validator.

Sounds like an S2000 to me.  Will it take a dollar bill or older small face bills?

No it wont take any bills, but I did send a post yesterday that says that by tinkering with it after seeing a post about setting dips i was able to do that and got it take a $20 bill, i then attempted to try another one and it took it but it seeked to get stuck as the validator just continued to cycle for about 30 seconds and bill was stuck in it. Trying to send pic's but they wont go thru. Oh yes sorry i did try a doolar bill before all this and it worked. I never have to add paper money to it as it had like 7k credits on it when i bought it, and this all started after i accidently hit the cash out button and it went to 0 credits. Thanks for you interest and help

Cole,
Email the picture to yourself and save it on your desktop for now, or in a pictures folder.
Emailing photos to yourself makes the photo downsized a bit, to fit here.
Then click on the green Attachments and other options below, and hit the blue "Choose File" to add the photo you saved.
When done, please check your posted Reply to see if the photo you've attached, isn't sideways.

If you can, try to take a photo of your dipswitches too - so we can clearly see, which dip switches are in the ON or OFF positions.

If you are using win10 - while you have the pic on your desktop - click on the three dots in upper left of screen (see more). Then click on resize, just edit so either hor or vert size is equal to 1000 pxl then save.

Good job figuring out the photos.  :cool_thumb_up:
You basically have an IGT S2000 with a Futurelogic ticket printer and an ancient JCM WBA bill validator.
I hate those bill acceptors...soooo old and slow.
Anyways, they have that clunky, metal release lever for the cashbox on the right side of the box.
Push the lever, pull the cashbox out, wait a few seconds and shove it firmly all the way back in to reseat it.
You should hear the motor for the bill stacker in the cashbox run thru its sequence.

Now close your door and see if the yellow bill bezel light comes on.
If the yellow bezel light ("Insert Tickets or Bills Face Up") comes on, then it's ready to accept a bill...just use half decent $1 bills for now.
We want to see if we can get the darn thing to work first before trying other bills.

Finally, what messages are you seeing on the blue VFD reel glass display?

With your help and holding my hand thru the process of getting the pic's to you it was if you were standing over my shoulder and doing the work for me, thanks so much. I'm learning from this experience, ok so getting back to the slot machine I will try your recommendation in the morning and respond back to your post. We are in Michigan and we got hit with a lot of snow and more on the way, so i'm out for my second time tonight trying to get some of it out of the way. Thanks again

Bring a multimeter with you.
Check the two bulbs behind the bill bezel for continuity to see if they're burned out or not.
A half turn allows you to pull them out of the holder.

If you do not possess a digital multimeter, basically if the bulbs are black, they're most likely burned out.
However, even if they were burned out, the bill validator would still work.
You just wouldn't know if the machine was ready to accept bills - until you try to stick a bill in there.

Take a picture of the three connections behind the cashbox.
They will be long enough so that way you can use the left hand to sort of maneuver them around to the side so you can take a photo of the connections.
With the power OFF, take each apart and push them back together...do one at a time.
There's 3 of them...of different sizes.
Once you've un-plugged and re-plugged each connector, switch ON the power switch.
Never, ever remove any circuit board or connector with the power switch ON until you've learned more.

If that doesn't work, then we'll have to teach you how to get into the machine's options and settings to find out if the bill acceptor is enabled or not.
Quick question....have you ever seen this BV work?

Ok so i located what i think are the connections behind the cash box and followed your instructions and it didnt work, the validtor went thru a startup and there were no messages and i was able to play credits. I bought the slot with over 1,400 dollars worth of credits and was advised by the owner to not cash out as it would take a long time to build credits back up, so my guess is the validtor didnt work when i bought it, i cant remember ever seeing the light on for it and i never tried to add to it. But after cashing out and playing with cash box and opening and closing door many times was finally able to get slot to accept $20's up to about 600 credits and it has worked since. I did notice while i was looking for connections behind cash box i saw a googy brown/orange substance leaking down from behind cash box, i will send pics
