@Stayouttadabunker  Today, I slide out the the MPU a couple of inches and turned ON the power switch as you suggested, but nothing.
No vfd and No winner paid, credits paid/credits display.  There are 2 green leds that blink on the vfd controller board that blink when the machine is powered on.
I tried 2 more of each ribbon cable (vfd and distribution Box to motherboard).  I found and tried another backplane . I still get a whole lot of nothing on the
vfd and winner paid, credits paid/credits displays.

Anybody have any ideas????????

I looked back on some older posts, you had a machine with the same issue, you said you replaced a harness and that fixed the problem. Any chance that harness ended up in this machine?

I have a harness that I looked at, the harness that goes from the cabinet to the front door is a harness that is completely separate from the main machine harness, when disconnected the only connector that prevents the harness from being removed is a connector that is inserted into the metal plate that goes to the top box. When that connector is removed that harness can be removed from the machine.
That harness carries all the data and info from the motherboard to the front door, I/O card which sends data to the 552 or 663 display, the green wire connector that goes to the control board for the vfd and the two pin 13vdc line for the control board power.

Are you sure all those connections are correct??

@jim   Hi Jim. Thanks for your help.  The harness from that other machine that I had that solved the display problem was a cabinet harness and it was destroyed.  I cut it up and used the wire to make other harnesses and de-pinned some of the Molex to use when needed. Is the harness that you said you looked at the one where there is a white Molex Mini Fit Jr. 2x6 that plugs into J9 (Door Senet Plug) and another one, a white Molex Mini Fit Jr. 2x5 that plugs into J3 (2nd Netplex connector)?  The harness has the black wire shield on part of it. There is a black 1x5 Molex SL connector with green wires that plugs into the vfd controller and a black 1x2 Molex SL connector the plugs into the top of vfd controller board on the one I'm describing. I believe we are talking about the same cable as. I'm figuring that out as I write this post. There is a white Molex 2x7 Mini Fit jr. connector that plugs into the 801 door I/O card. Lastly, on this harness, there is a white Molex 1x2 (.093 series) connector with orange wires that plugs into another harness.

Other info in regards to how i have things plugged in:
I have the other white Molex Mini Fit Jr.2x5 connector that comes from the cabinet harness and which has double orange 16 AWG wires and double red 16 AWG wires side by side at the bottom of the plug, plugged into J2 (Bottom Netplex). The solid white Molex 2x5 mini fit jr is plugged into J13 (power).  There is another white Molex Mini Fit Jr.2x6 connector coming from the cabinet harness that plugs into J7 (spare senet). The other white Molex Mini Fit Jr. 2x5 connector coming from the cabinet harness which has mostly green wires going to J10 (Netplex Bill validator). There is no white Molex Mini Fit Jr.2x5 connector that goes to the printer on this harness, so we can rule that being plugged into the wrong place out. The other connections are simple and can't, to my knowledge, be plugged in wrong.

Does the way I have things plugged in sound correct to you?

Thanks,
Eric

here is a picture of the connections to the backplane .

I did an experiment on my machine, I pulled out the CPU board, disconnected the five green wire connection on the vfd controller board and left the two pin power connector plugged in.

turned on the machine, immediately got the vfd message, testing memory, then after a short time got the vfd message netplex down.

have you tried this??

@Jim My Harness is connected exactly as you have shown.  Per you guidance I pulled out the processor tray and unplugged the five green wire connection and turned the machine on. Same result.
No VFD and no 552 display. Honestly.I'm not sure what to do at this point. I've never not been able to fix a machine, so this is a first. Granted I have had a little help along the way from those more experienced through the years, but having rewired some 20 plus S2000s that had various wiring and other issues I would have thought that by now with the amount of troubleshooting and suggestions from others with much more experience than I that this would have been solved by now.

The cabinet is in great condition and I hate to scrap it, but I don't know what else to do!

I really appreciate your help Jim. You've put some time into helping me with this machine and I really appreciate it. You've gone above and beyond.
Eric
