Munsters game won’t come up
« on: September 02, 2025, 04:26:55 pm »
Hello everyone!
I'm kinda new to the site, it's my first time back on in like 10 years.
I just purchased a Munsters game, the model # on the cabinet says 96424100 and it won't come up. The lights behind the top glass and by the BV come on, and the fans behind the top glass and above the system board come on. Nothing else happens. I noticed there are red lights on the power supply on the right, and on the motherboard and neither one are on. I tried to post pictures but they were apparently too large and I do t know how to reduce them.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
A little more info:
With the system board installed, then powered on, all 5 green / yellow lights in the front of the board come on and far left red light flashes a couple of times. After running a short time the far left red light flashes again and the 2 far left green / yellow lights go out and I heard something click.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Email the pictures to yourself and save them in a folder.
You usually get a chance to change the size of the photos when emailing.
Now, when you click on the green "Attachments and other options" link below, you can go look for the pics in the folder you put them in.
I'm guessing that you have an S2000 or an I-Game cabinet...the photos will verify it.

I mean making the pictures a smaller size worked, the machine still doesn’t.

okay...but now we need a metallurgical microscope to see the photos...lol
I cannot read a single label on any of your MPU chips.
MAke sure the power switch is OFF before removal or installation of any circuit boards.
Tht way you do not burn anything out.
What's the last thing you see on the lcd screen?
Any messages on it at all?

That's not an LCD screen, it's a CRT. The board that drives the tube could be dead. Troubleshooting is difficult because you won't see any of the errors the machine is displaying. It's also possible that power supply is bad, but your board is trying to run so I'm more inclined to think monitor board.

that looks to be a ceronix, perhaps a 1793. good running boards are very difficult to find. you may be better off moving to an LCD screen. Also be careful when handling the monitor, there is some voltage on those monitors that can really bite.

Ok, I have an update (kinda one).  I thought I found a good place to repair the monitor so I sent it in. After 2+ months they told me that they couldn’t repair it.
So now I’m going with Hotlsot’s advice and going to change it over to an lcd, however I have question as to how to do that. Attached is a picture of my monitor connector that connects to the system board. What kind of adaptor do I get to connect the lcd to the male connector on the system board?  Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The LCD will plug into the same plug your CRT monitor did at the bottom of the shelf.  Make sure the LCD monitor you buy is for a slant top and has the same connector on the back as your old one did either a 19 or 25 pin.  You count the number of pin holes not the number of pins actually installed.

Im sorry I missed this conversation. Im a huge proponent of keeping the original CRTs running. I don’t know who tried to fix the board but I have a few xx93 boards in tubs.  They are usually pretty straightforward to repair and amazingly enough they only pull 65 watts.
I also have some complete monitors sitting on a rack.
I know Im a one-off on this topic and there is nothing wrong with converting to LCD, it is expensive and I don’t like the picture on older machine graphics. Newer machines are graphically designed on, and for, larger LCD wide monitors just like new television content is designed for new technology.

Lastly, there is a company in Las Vegas called Sharp Image. All they do is work on monitors. Perhaps that is who you sent yours too and it was beyond repair?

Thank you Tilt and Chris!!
I originally wanted to stay with the crt that’s why I tried to get it repaired. I actually took it to Arcade Monitor Repair in WoodDale, IL. They had it for over 60 days and then told me they couldn’t fix it.  Chris - I would like to get my machine up and running as cheap as possible, but also want the best possible picture. How much do you want for a replacement board or a replacement crt?  I live in Tinley Park, IL.
Again, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Here is an update. I got it to come up but then I think I screwed it up.
Since I posted last time I bought a different power supply, a power distribution module, a main board a multi media lite board and a backplane. Then I took my monitor back to the same place to have it repaired.
So I just put it all together. When I turned it on a critical error message came up and it said something about turning the jackpot reset then pressing and holding the test button for 3 - 5 seconds but it said I’d lose all important data. I didn’t think I had a choice so I did it and now I lost everything, imagine that. 🥲
Any idea how I get everything back and working?

Can you define "everything"?  Everything sounded normal for a machine with that much swapped.  What happens when you turn it on now?  Look at the MPU board LEDs, is the red led blinking when the machine is on?

I was able to duplicate the error I got but I had to reseat the card several times in order for it to come back. So it came back once and after sitting a little while the screen went black. Then I turned off and ba k on again and it went through different colored screens for about 2 minutes but this time it went black again. I’m trying to shrink a video and picture so I can post them.
